The Risk of Creating a Lost Generation

Amidst an economic crisis which has affected the young the most, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon encourages greater inclusion of youth into the decision-making processes globally while warning of a possible “lost generation”.

Discouraged by the rise in inequalities and limited prospects for employment our youth are quickly becoming disenfranchised yet the Millennials, despite global challenges, have energetically demonstrated their capacity and desire to creatively participate in partnering to bring about social change.  The World Youth Report 2012, explores the transition from schools and training institutions to the labor market, a critical period in life.  How will this generation compete in this downward economy and find fulfillment in life while struggling to pay off student loans if they have had the privilege of attending university?  Read more…
