We all are busy with our lives, set in our routines. Most of our time is taken up by trying to gather resources to pays our bills. This often means we are left with no time and energy to pursue any of our passions or to support the social causes we believe in.
The Shakey Tables, a NYC funk rock band, is hosting its third annual benefit for New York Cares Coat Drive, this time adding a crowdfunding campaign on Crowdera to help boost donations.
The benefit show will take place on November 21, 2014 at 7:30pm at Bowery Electric, 327 Bowery, New York, NY. The cover charge will be waived for patrons that bring coats to donate to New York Cares’ annual coat drive, and The Shakey Tables will donate 100% of its proceeds from ticket sales/cover charges to benefit New York Cares. With Black Friday behind and Cyber Monday behind us, I am reflecting on #GivingTuesday, an opportunity to “get out the give” this holiday season which comes on the heals of #Sandy and unrest in the Middle East. How fortunate we are to have restored power and a nation that supports the East Coast recovery efforts. A great nation…
I’ve never been a Black Friday shopper nor have I contributed to the fascination of bargain hunting on-line. I’m a proud local girl, and I’m going to keep my dollars right here in Maplewood, a proud sponsor of the 3/50 Project. I joined the #GivingTuesday team and began to support campaigns for giving rather than planning of a strategic cyber shopping strategy.
The disconnect between Thanksgiving and Black Friday ends with #GivingTuesday, an online celebration of joyful giving. Join the crew at umojawa and celebrate the abundance in your life with gratitude. You can celebrate a parent volunteer in your community in umojawa’s Community Tree. Go ahead and nominate someone doing good!
Giving Tuesday is the Tuesday after Cyber Monday and is a second day of giving thanks. #GivingTuesday is a day of giving at the start of the annual holiday shopping season to show that holiday shopping can be about both giving and giving back. #GivingTuesday is about helping others and celebrating the great American spirit of contribution.
On Tuesday, November 27, 2012, the collective power of charities, families, businesses and individuals will transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season. #GivingTuesday is a new national moment dedicated to giving, similar to how Black Friday has become a day that is about holiday shopping
#GivingTuesday is creating a great tradition of generosity and is showing how Americans can do much more with our wallets than just consume.
